We approach problems connected to coastal hazards in multiple ways. Find out more about our unique research on those hazards and how shoreline communities directly benefit from the findings.

Dr. Cassandra R. Davis and her team have produced a trio of reports that lead Coastal Resilience Center (CRC) efforts to bring the issue of equity and disasters to the forefront of current research and practice.

While focusing on the needs as well as the aspirations of marginalized communities in disaster-prone areas, Dr. Davis’ work highlights the urgent demand for improved measurement of outcomes in resilience efforts; ways non-governmental organizations can enhance communication methods while supporting marginalized groups through disaster recovery; and how many of these communities have found self-reliant approaches to maintain cultural resilience in the face of consecutive climate hazards.
